Cameron Cova, JD
Cameron Alston Cova grew up in Salt Lake City, and is a UofU alum, where she studied creative writing. She is an attorney and the lucky and happy full-time mom to her and her husbands two young daughters. Cameron received her J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law, with an emphasis on Environmental Law. Following law school she served as a law clerk for the Federal District Court in the Eastern District of California, and then practiced intellectual property law and handled pro bono environmental matters at Covington and Burling. Cameron was actively involved in the creation of the Mountain View Corridor’s Air Quality Working Group, charged with air quality monitoring and mitigation efforts for schools located near this roadway, and is a current member of the working group. Cameron is thrilled to be back home among the beautiful mountains of Utah. Utah’s air quality has been a major concern for Cameron for many years, however, and the bad air almost kept her from raising her family here. Cameron well-remembers the many smoggy days of her childhood and wants something better for her daughters and other Utah children.

Deborah Sigman, PhD
Deborah Burney-Sigman grew up in San Francisco. She earned her B.A. in Molecular Biology from UC Santa Cruz in 1994 and her Ph.D. in Biology from MIT in 2000. She joined her husband Matt in beautiful Salt Lake City in 2000. She left research and teaching in Cell Biology and Biochemistry to raise their children in 2003. Embracing Utah as her family’s home, she made the switch from being silently disturbed by its bouts of appalling air quality to taking action in 2007.
Riding buses, cable cars, BART and ferries as a child, she took for granted the freedom granted by available mass transit; freedom of movement, while reducing congestion and air pollution. In her pursuit of better air quality in Utah, Deborah has developed an interest in the factors that make mass transit successful.
